War Crimes Prosecutors Demand Action09/02/07War Crimes Prosecutors Demand Action
Posted by Rich Stazinski
Nora Boustany reported in Saturday's Washington Post on an important and unprecedented gathering of international war crimes prosecutors that took place last week in picturesque Chautauqua, New York. Both the article ("War Crime Prosecutors Issue Call for Action") and the joint statement of the prosecutors to the world community (see below) are worth reading for their revealing look at the past, critical view of the present, inspirational vision for the future, and unified call for international law and justice. On this Labor Day weekend, we should all take a moment to reflect on the truly ground-breaking labor of these great men and women in places like Nuremberg and The Hague, and also prepare ourselves for the work that's left for those of us that care deeply about creating a more just and secure world for future generations. They've done their part, it's now our turn to take action...

An inspirational view of the future--thanks be to all of you who are bringing this about. Finally some justice world wide.
JUSTICE.....WHAT A CONCEPT!!!!!! WE HAVEN'T SEEN HIDE NOR HAIR OF IT, SINCE BUSH "TOOK" OFFICE....HE COULD REALLY USE SOME!!!!!!!!
It's a nice idea but I have little hope that any leader, including American leaders, will actually act to make themselves accountable for any crime they commit. After all, Bush and Cheney have committed crimes against innocent people to further their own agenda. American leaders have consistently blasted the idea of a World Court and even supported Pinochet because they believe that the horrible things thay may do are "necessary" and they simply don't want to be held accountable for doing them. Hed they held Pinochet accountable then they themselves would be too, not only for aiding and abetting Pinochet, but for any other crimes they commit.
Like Mel Brooks said: "It's good to be king." And don't let anyone fool you, it's all about power and maintianing power.
It is time to charge President Bush and Vice President Chaney for crimes against humanity before the International Criminal Court.
It is time to bring President Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, and Ronald Rumsfeld before the International Criminal Court for their crimes against humanity in the US occupation of Iraq.
It is time to bring all the leaders in Sudan for their crimes against humanity for driving millions of Sudannese in Darfur, Sudan out of that area.
Hopefully now things will take a turn for the better in areas like Darfur. Thankyou to all those who are working so hard to end the genocide and to those who make this information available to people like us. My only wish is that we are able to reach the ears of more people.
crime of agression?
I do not belive on that, until people like President Bush and Vice President Cheney are charge for the Afganistan Irak Invasion. Other way the ICC only will be an USA arm. If Bush has not accountability on that crimes in Irak, why do not came to sign the Rome treaty Came on America, if you are not agains the Crime, are you for him. Fili Leave a comment:
