LEGISLATION: To promptly develop, fund, and implement a comprehensive regional strategy in Africa
S.Res. 76 introduced in the Senate by Sen. Russell Feingold (D-WI) on February 8, 2007
Stating that the U.S. government should be part of a multilateral strategy to bring peace and humanitarian assistance to Darfur and to address the spread of this conflict into neighboring Chad. This bill calls on Chad and Sudan to uphold their commitments to the February 8, 2006 Tripoli Declaration. Also, it requests that the President appoint an official to the United Nations specifically designated to oversee the management of this conflict in both Chad and Darfur.
