U.S. Representative Kirsten Gillibrand moves to the U.S. Senate

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Citizens for Global Solutions congratulates U.S. Representative Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) on her appointment as U.S. Senator from New York. Gillibrand succeeds former Senator Hillary Clinton, who left the post to take the job of U.S. Secretary of State.

As a U.S. Representative from New York’s 20th district, Gillibrand received an “A” on our 2008 Congressional Report Card, voting against a bill that would have cut U.S. contributions to international organizations, voting to increase CAFÉ standards and support for renewable energy, and finally, voting to prohibit harsh interrogation methods.

Because of her progressive voting record, we endorsed her in the 2008 election, and she become one of the 160 candidates we endorsed who won their races.
