Welcome!

This is our 3rd year holding a Flash animation contest for students, budding artists, multi-media designers, and activists who are interested in making some cool web videos. We hope these inspiring shorts will stand out in an era of ubiquitous technology, of infotainment, and of reduced attention spans, and inspire every-day people to watch, listen, learn, and take action on the global issues that they care about. To get started, just click on the images above to watch, to find out more about the artists, and to send your favorite videos around the world wide web-o-sphere.

Congratulations Contest Winners!

FIRST PLACE: Think Wind, by Jeffrey Knight

Age: 24 |
Home Town: Savannah, GA | Years of Flash Experience: Several
“In my hometown, wind energy is a popular topic that has allowed for the city of Moorhead to construct two wind turbines of its own. It’s important because putting an end to non-renewable energy sources is a giant step in the topic of consumption and sustainability.”

“Be they small or large, our decisions and demands will shape the future of our world and make it a future worth saving.”

SECOND PLACE: Purify, by Dan Salvato

Age: 15 |
Home Town: West Windsor, New Jersey | Flash Experience: Three Years, Self Taught

“I'd say that making the animation itself inspired me to follow its example a little more. When I'm not being a nerd on the computer, my friend and I hang out in the woods behind my house. The problem is...there's trash everywhere. Recently, we've been taking giant trash bags back to the woods and cleaning everything up.”

THIRD PLACE TIE: Polluted Rampage, by Nana Boachie

Age: 17 | Home Town: Douglasville, GA | Years of Flash Experience: Several

“The night I found out about the contest was a week before it was due. At that time I didn't realize it until three days later when I went back to check it's date once more. The only thing going through my mind was, 'Aaaaaaagh!!!! I only have 4 days to make this thing?!!!!' So next thing I knew I was putting several hours into this piece. I even had a friend go into work for me just so I could have a Saturday off to finish the piece (which I did around 2-3 in the morning). Funny thing was I figured out later that the contest had been extended to three more days."

THIRD PLACE TIE: Saving the Earth, or Whatever, by Andrey Shur & Robert Goldberg

Ages: 18 | Home Town: Los Angeles, CA | Years of Flash Experience: A Few

“Every time we have a substitute teacher in that class, it's always some guy that "doesn't believe in" Global Warming, and the whole class has to teach HIM, when it should be the other way around..."

VIEWER'S CHOICE: Pollution in People; Jonathan Stanton

(A standout among our viewing audience with 30% of the audience vote!)
Age: 17 | Home Town: Kent, Washington | Years of Flash Experience: Several

“I learned a lot about animation and the different pollutants that go in my body everyday! Sadly it is life threatening and people die every day from these effects, but I am glad that progress is being made to prevent all of this. Did you know that when a company comes out with a new product it is innocent until proven guilty? Kind of a scary thought”
